Background

Richard Henry Sutton married Mary Johnson. They arrived in Australian in 1854 with their daughter.[1] Richard Sutton started a music shop on the Ballarat goldfields which grew to become Sutton's Music Store with branches in many towns including Melbourne and Geelong.

Richard and Mary Sutton are the parents of inventor Henry Sutton, who was born in a tent on Bakery Hill on 03 September 1856.

Obituary

Sutton - On the 24th September, at his residence. Main street, Ballarat, Richard Henry Sutton, aged forty-five years, of dropsy; deeply regretted.[2]
