The funeral of the late Mr Abraham Rogerson took place on Tuesday, from 204 Seymour street, his remains being interred beside those of his wife in the Old Cemetery. The coffin-bearers were Messrs L. Loather, L. Lewis, G. Henwood. and L. George. The Rev. C. O. Anderson officiated at the grave. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr C. Morris.
The Evening Echo Monday, 7 August 1916 - Page 4 GENERAL NEWS OBlTUARY. A very old resident, one of the pioneers, Mr. Abraham Rogerson passed away yesterday, at the residence of his grandson, Mr. E. Anderson, Seymour street, Ballarat. Mr. Rogerson was in his 94th year, having been born in Yorkshire in 1823. Mr. Rogerson came to Ballarat in the year 1853, and has been a resident of the district ever since. He arrived here with his wife and two children, and after seeking the fortunes of a gold digger in the early days took up farming in the Canadian dis-trict, which pursuit he followed without intermission until about six, or seven years ago. Mr. Rogerson was a resident before the Eureka outbreak. His family consisted of three daughters and two sons. Both the latter are dead, but his daughters- Mrs. Ellen Anderson, Ballarat, and Mrs. Edith Christensen, Melbourne; and Mrs. Elizbeth Emmett, Winchelsea, survive him. Mr. Rogerson's wife died about five years ago. His remains will be interred tomorrow.
