In Ballarat Doveton Street North runs parallel to Lydiard Street, but unlike Lydiard Street that terminates at the Ballarat New Cemetery, Doveton Street North continues on the west side of the cemetery towards Invermay (a suburb that was originally named 'Dead Horse').
