Ellen was around the area of Ballarat in 1854. As Ellen Craven of Hobart Town, an Diemen's Land, she married Charles Aik at Buninyong in June 1853. He was from Mesnet, East Russia. Their son, Charles William Aik was born in Ballarat on 4 January 1857. Ellen was then 20 years old and her husband was 25 years. She was attended by midwife, Mrs Brown.
