Obituary
A very old resident of Stawell, Mr W.? Tauschke had died. He arrived in Victoria in 1849. He was at the Eureka Stockade. [3]

- Death of a pioneer.
- Mr Fredrick William Tauschke died at his residence, Stawell, on Friday. Mr Tauschke landed in Melbourne in the year 1849, and followed all the gold rushes, including Bendigo and Ballarat. He was in Ballarat at the time of the Eureka Stockade. He came to Stawell in 1872, and has resided here ever since. He leaves a widow and a son and daughter, Mr F. W. Tauschke and Mrs C. Grant, both of Richmond. The deceased was married at Ballarat to the fourth daughter of the late Mr Jas. Hodges. He was an enginedriver by occupation, and for over 30 years was a member of the Stawell branch of the Miners' Association, of which he was also a trustee. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.[4]
