Background
Israel was a Private in the 40th Regiment (no 3091).[1]
Goldfields Involvement, 1854
Israel Hales was possibly present at the storming of the Eureka Stockade on 03 December 1854.[2]
Post 1854 Experiences
Private Hales served in New Zealand during the Maori Wars of the early 1860s. He had left the army by 1869, receiving his discharge in New Zealand.[3]
