- Patrick Burke, 82 years of age, a 44 years resident of Ararat, died on Monday. He was an old army pensioner, had seen active service in India and China, and had led an eventful life. He was a sergeant of the 40th regiment and with it was at Ballarat at the time of the Eureka riots.[1]
