Background
Thomas Reed was born on 15 September 1995 at Wellington, Sommerset. He joined the 40th Regiment on 15 September 1852 aged 17 years and 9 months. His service number was #3163. He Arrived at Melbourne on 26 June 1854.
Reed died in 1873 at South Yarra, leaving a widow and five young children.[1]
