Background
William Tulloch was born in 1829 at Perthshire, Scotland and arrived in Sydney on the Duke of Richmond in 1844. He married Emma Georgina Gude in 1851 at the Presbyterian Church, Geelong. In 1853 Tulloch was running a store in Ashby and by 1855 he had a store in Main Road, Eureka. [1]
William Tulloch died in October 1896, and was buried on 25 October at the Ballaarat Old Cemetery.[2]

Tulloch set up a brewery in 1862 which was called Tulloch and McLaren's Royal Standard Brewery, a forerunner of the Ballarat Brewing Company.[3]
