AN OLD COLONIST.
The late Mr. C. K. Pearson, who died at Upper Beaconsfield last Sunday, was a colonist of 60 years. A few years after his arrival here he was an officer in the military party which stormed the famous Eureka Stockade. After this stirring episode he went to Avoca for a number of years, and was a prominent townsman, filling the position of mayor. Subsequently he established a flourishing watch maker's business in Geelong, and invented im-portant improvements in lever watches, which obtained for him gold medals at Melbourne exhibitions and abroad. The last few years of his life have been spent in the country, where he devoted himself to his favorite hobby of gardening almost to the last.[1]
