Obituary

NATHALIA - During the past week the Great Harvester has visited the town, and two old colonists have passed to their long home. Mr Jas, Keyes, a retired railway servant, and the father in law of Senior constable Brown, died on Saturday last, and his remains were conveyed to Ballarat for interment The late Mr Keyes arrived in the State in 1852, and saw stirring events in the old mining days, and was present at the Eureka Stockade riot. He was 77 years of age, and leaves to mourn their loss a family of grown up sons and daughters.[2]
