Post 1854 Experiences
Baker arrived at Warrenheip in 1855, then moved to Ballarat. He was a partner of George Black in a quartz crushing venture. Baker saw the Welcome Nugget wheeled up the street in a wheelbarrow on its way to the Unicorn Hotel. Baker later had a claim called the Ophir Gold Mining Company. He witnessed the burning of the United States Hotel nd the Montezuma Theatre.
