Obituary

The friends of Mrs Goddard, wife of Mr George Goddard, or East street, Ballarat East, will no doubt regret to learn of her death, which occurred yesterday. The deceased, who was a native of Adelaide, came to Victoria with her parents in 1838, and in 1852 she arrived, soon after her marriage, in Ballarat. She leaves a family of eleven, the majority of whom are adults. Mrs Goddard was a prominent member of St Paul’s Church, Ballarat East, and yesterday a flag was floating at half mast from the tower of the church, as a token of respect to the memory of the deceased. The body will be conveyed to St Paul’s Church today, at 2.30 p.m., where a service will be held, and the internment will subsequently take place in the old cemetery. [2]
