- Private William T. Ryan, who was wounded at the Dardanelles, is a native of Ballarat, where his father took part in the Eureka Stockade. He is the youngest son of the late Michael F. Ryan, and is also a nephew of Messrs. Simon and John Hanley of Rochester district. where he has also many cousins.[3]
