Background

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

Allan McNeill, who on his retirement from farming lived, at Argyle Villa, arrived in Port Fairy in 1849, and in 1851, on the opening of the goldfields, went to Castlemaine and Ballarat. and was present at the Eureka Stockade.[1] He was a signatory on the Benden Hassell compensation petition.
