The paper was founded by Henry Seekamp on 04 March 1854. Seekamp left Ballarat in 1856 but the paper survived until 05 October 1861.

Location

In 1854 Henry Seekamp published the paper from his office in Mair Street, opposite the Haymarket.[1] Seekamp sold the newspaper to Joseph Henry Dunne.

By December 1854 the office had moved to the north-east corner of Victoria and Humffray Streets.[2]

In 1857 it was located in Main Road, Ballarat East. [3]
