The original gold country consisted of Nevada, Sierra, Butte, Placer, Sutter, Sacramento, Amador, El Dorado, Calaveras, Tuolumne, Mariposa.[1]


Other towns include Nevada City, Rough and Ready, Grass Valley, Folsom, Altaville, San Andreas, Mokelumne Hill, Murphy's, Coulterville, Sonora, Jamestown, Mariposa, Plymouth, Volcano, Fiddletown, North Bloomfield, Downie Ville, Angel's Camp, Placerville, Sutter Creek, Amador City, Martell, Jackson, Ione.[2]
