Fitzsimmons

News has reached Melbourne from Albury of the death of Mrs. Fitzsimmons at the age of 83 years. Her husband, Sergeant-major Fitzsimmons, the first artillery instructor in Victoria, was a prominent figure at the historic fight at the Eureka Stockade. Mrs. Fitzsimmons was also present at the fight between the authorities and the diggers, and was an eye witness of all that occurred. She had a large family, and leaves over 100 descendants.[1]
