Background
Robert McIndoe was born in Scotland. He died 1866 Scarsdale, Victoria.
Goldfields Involvement, 1854
McIndoe "came to Australia with his parents in 1852, and went on the goldfields at Ballarat. While there he was in the Eureka Stockade Riot, and helped to disguise the leader, Peter Lalor, by shaving off his beard and hiding him in a digger's hole, escaping capture by the soldiers by helping to attend to the wounded. He had a splendid tenor I voice, and was in much demand as a singer in those early days, when he was once was the recipient of a gold..."[1]
Post 1854 Experiences
McIndoe was residing at Ballarat when he signed the Benden Hassell Petition in 1856.[2]
He later selected land at Dean and engaged in farming until his death. [3]

James McIndoe (born 1766 Lanark, Scotland) married Elizabeth Bogle Steele (born 1767 Barony, Scotland). Their son, Robert McIndoe (born 1793 Barony? Lanark?) married (1823 Glasgow) to Susannah Mason (born 1802 Lanark, died 1866 Scarsdale, Victoria). Robert & Susannah had 8 children:
