THE EUREKA STOCKADE

TO THE EDITOR

SIR,— Seeing in your issue of to-day a letter signed J. Fraser, calling attention to a religious service to be held on the first Sunday in December, 1886, I hope to be there, and I would fain meet with some of my old comrades and bring to memory that, bright Sunday morning in December, 1854, when might trod rough shod on right.- Yes, Sir, I intend to be there next Sabbath, not to hold an indignation meeting about the monument, as some proposed (as the fate of that is sealed), but to render thanksgiving to the Wise Disposer of all events, who shielded me that morning from the murdering bullets of the 40th, and preserved my wife and her four children to see this present anniversary. Therefore we old men have much to account for and the day is waning, the night is at hand. - Yours, &c., W.N. WARREN,

Bond Street, 2nd December.[1]
