Eureka Reserve
- Some time ago, while Cr Steinfeld was mayor of Ballarat East, some old residents of Ballarat besought him to procure, if possible, the proclamation by government of a reserve on the site of the Eureka Stockade. He did what he could in the matter and received favourable promised which brought about the government gazette proclamation of eleven acres and upwards on the site of the Stockade as a reserve.[1]
